IN BLOOM...

Society tells us what we are thinking and how we are supposed to feel in TV commercials, billboards and social media outlets. The latest fashions plastered everywhere gives a clear directive as to what we should wear and how we should pair every item from head to toe. New found data announces the most coveted career fields associated with success.  Everywhere we turn there are bumpers that toggle us back and forth as we navigate through life attempting to find exactly who we are supposed to be, according to whom?
When a caterpillar emerges out of its cocoon; it does so on its own. There has been no outside assistance during the metamorphosis; the end process is an amazingly beautiful butterfly.  In life, we grow and eventually emerge into the person God destined us to become. One thing we must be extremely cautious about during our growth is blooming into everyone else’s ideal version of who we should be.

Receiving how others view you and embracing it as your very own is downplaying yourself; your God-given talents and gifts, which will do nothing but hold you back in life. Our lives are to reflect God, which is why we should be in tune with Him and ensure that we are living in accordance to the Bible. People are fickle. The world is forever changing. Circumstances in life hurt us; we may experience our breaking point behind it. However, the negative perception of ourselves and many changes we go through in our life should never be the trademark of our lives.
We hold intricate qualities and our artistry is different, none of us are the same because that is how God operates. We were created to fit into one mold, our very own. The book In Bloom by Kayla Aimee touches on various forces that affected and made an impact on her life. She discusses her fears, insecurities and methods of  seeking validation. Kayla expresses her attempts to save face in circumstances and dealing with how others viewed her as she vied for their approval.

As I was reading this book, I could see myself in many of the experiences she shared. This book is packed with so many raw truths that each of us can relate to, while biblical truths points us to God as we bloom into the person God created.
This book was an enjoyable read with a great message.
